Have Talent - Will Weld

My friend Jake said he would be willing to finish the welding for me, so today after work I stopped at Troy's to get his permission to use the welder he left at my place. I did not feel comfortable just using it without asking. Troy said he did not mind and then mentioned that he had spent the morning finishing work on the rear end. I am planning to install the rear end this weekend.

When I got home I sent Jake a message letting him know that we had the okay to weld. I put away the brackets and gear selector that I painted yesterday and started hanging the three brackets I planned to paint today. Dad had mentioned that he would stop by after a bit and help with the painting.

When Jake got off work he responded that he was on his way over, so I decided to hold off on painting until tomorrow and focus on getting the welding done and out of the way. I got the welder out, as well as the two rear sway bar bushing brackets that I needed welded.

Jake arrived shortly thereafter and immediately got to work.

He started by welding the two brackets.

Then he welded the outer side of the rear driver side subframe connector mount. He also touched up the weld on the inner side of this bracket.

The last thing he welded was the outer side of the rear passenger side subframe connector mount. Thanks Jake - you rule!

Here are the rear sway bar bushing brackets. I plan to prep and paint these tomorrow.

Here's a close up of welds on the rear driver side subframe connector mount.

My wonderful wife surprised me with one more birthday gift. She bought the third set of speakers I need for KITT. These 6x9 speakers are for the sail panel area. Thanks Sara!
