Painting KITT's Fuel Tank

Today was warm enough to start painting KITT's fuel tank. I set the tank on saw horses with a tarp underneath and used the flower pot to seal the opening. Because of the way the fuel tank is shaped I am going to have to paint it in two parts (top half and bottom half).

The top half of the fuel tank will only get two coats of POR-15 because it sits against the car and will not be exposed.

Here is the top half of the fuel tank and fuel filler neck after one coat of POR-15.

Here is the top half of the fuel tank and fuel filler neck after the second coat of POR-15.

I decided to paint over this tag. I originally thought it was a tag indicating who performed the repair patch, but Dad thought it is more likely to be the manufacturer's tag. The self-leveling properties of the POR-15 covered the tag but left the lettering readable.

I also touched up a few spots on the firewall.

I plan to paint the bottom half of the fuel tank as soon as it is warm enough to paint again. I also want to seam seal the inside of the car when it is warm enough.
