Painting The Calipers

My friend Cary was in town today and asked if I wanted to meet him for lunch on my lunch break. I mentioned that I was going to paint the calipers after work and he decided to stick around town so he could help me when I got off work.

When I got home today, I used the air compressor to blow the dust off all of the calipers. At this point they all have just one coat of the POR-15 black. You can see my "mistake" from Monday in the lower right corner. :(

I set up the sawhorses and draped a tarp over them. The calipers fit very nicely over the top of the sawhorses while allowing us to paint the outsides of the calipers in one shot.

Cary arrived and we opened the pint of POR-15 I have been using only to find it was as hard as a rock. Remember, this is the can that would not seal tightly and had to be clamped shut. Apparently the clamps were not tight enough or let loose and it dried out. This means that I had to open my last 4-ounce can. I was planning to save this for touch ups in the future, but now I am glad I had it. There are still a few things I need to paint with POR-15 so I hope this can will make it. I really do not want to have to order more.

I plan to look for any spots we may have missed and touch up the insides where needed tomorrow. Thanks Cary for helping me get these painted today! If KITT could talk I am sure he would say thank you too, unfortunately his voice box is missing along with most of the rest of his parts. Shhhh! Don't tell him. ;)
