Wheel Well Stripping Fun

I did not have a lot of time to work on KITT tonight, but I wanted to get something started. I am off work early tomorrow and want to have something to jump right into when I get home.

I started on the driver side wheel well. I used my Hello KITTy duct tape to seal off the holes in the wheel well so that POR-Strip will not leak out into the engine bay.

Next I used magnets to hang a tarp along the bottom of the wheel well to keep any drips or sprays contained.

Here is a shot of the inside of the wheel well before I started with the POR-Strip.

Knowing I did not have a lot of time tonight, I did not want to attempt to do the entire wheel well, so I focused on the darkened area in the picture below. The darkened area is actually the first coat of POR-Strip. This had to sit for 15 minutes (per instructions).

After 15 minutes I applied a second coat. I let that sit for an additional 15 minutes.

After the 15 minutes had passed, I scraped everything I could get loose with a putty knife. Most of it just flaked right off.

I rinsed everything off with water to deactivate the POR-Strip.

My order from POR-15 arrived yesterday.
